If you don’t believe me, then you haven’t tried rebounding. Some of you might remember the mini trampoline from the early 80's. It was a very popular form of exercise then, but the fad faded by the mid eighties. Well it’s back and has been back for a few years now. I first heard of rebounding when it was recommended to a friend of mine with rheumatoid arthritis by her Rheumatologist. He told my friend to go out and buy one and get bouncing. Well, I had to look into this found out that it has many fabulous benefits for the body as well as fun too. Here are just a few:
Lymphatic System Drainage: Rebounding increases lymph fluid circulation which directly boosts the immune system, giving you greater white blood cell activity, and increased detoxification. It is helpful to people with lymphedema; those with inflammatory diseases like R.A. Osteoarthritis; cancer patients and survivors. It is beneficial for all & fun.
Improves Cardiovascular Function: Rebounding is a very beneficial form of aerobic exercise which strengthens the heart, and improves respiration. It not only gets your heart pumping, blood & oxygen flowing, but you can achieve from 3,000 to 4,500 steps in a 40 minute rebounder workout. That takes a chunk out of your 10,000 step day. It’s fun too.
Rebounding improves all of these: Physical strength, muscle development, coordination, balance and flexibility. Did I tell you it is fun?
Less Strain on Joints & Soft Tissue; Helps Bones: When rebounding, most of the impact of each bounce is absorbed by the rebounder. This is great for those who need to avoid stress & strain of joints, soft tissue. It is also very beneficial for those who need to build and maintain bone due to osteoporosis because it is a weight bearing exercise. Yes it’s fun.
Strengthens Every Cell in the Body: Rebounding strengthens the cells of your body by putting gravitational stress and g-force on all your cells and sending more oxygen to your cells as you bounce. Fun stuff!
I have been rebounding and teaching rebounding classes for about 4 years and I love it. It is a fun energetic workout that not only does all of the above, but is never boring because you bounce, stomp, lift, march, twist and much more. It also burns calories leaving you feeling happy and energetic for the rest of your day. Try it. You will love it.
